Exbury Gardens & Steam Railway is a magical, dog friendly day out in Exbury. The gardens have 200 acres of breathtaking grounds & a famous Rothschild collection of rhododendrons, azaleas, camellias, rare trees and shrubs. You can finish your trip with a ride aboard the steam railway, perfect for all the family.

The spectacular gardens suit all ages, passionate gardeners and keen horticulturalists. From botanical rarities to masses of spectacular colour, there is something for all to enjoy – a place to escape from the cares of the world.

You can enjoy a trip on the steam railway which runs along a 1 1/2 mile track. The railway is perfect for admiring sweeping views of the northernmost part of Exbury Gardens. The relaxing journey takes you through the specially designed ‘Summer Lane’ Garden. Children can have great fun seeing Exbury’s sculpted woodland creatures, including deer, rabbits, lizards and meerkats. After the journey, you can go the engine shed and enjoy graphics, videos and memorabilia recounting the steam’s heyday.

Children can have endless fun in the play area. It includes explorer tower, sky walk trail, birds nest swing, play hut and ‘pick-up sticks’ for older children and play hut.

Mr Eddy’s Restaurant offers hot and cold dishes, a variety of cakes, ice cream and refreshments. In the gardens you will find The Old Tennis Courts. The menu includes light refreshments and ice creams. The five Arrows Gallery is also within the gardens and offers drinks and snacks.
