Sheltered within its own grounds, this is a typical late fifteenth century tower house built to a simple L-plan, with three storeys, a garret and a stone turnpike circular stairway. A further wing was added in the eighteenth century and the castle is filled with antiques and period furniture.

Set in 30 acres of garden, with the Gadie burn running on both sides, it has a mixture of formal gardens, woodlands and lawn.

A hard surface drive sweeps up to the front of the castle and there is plenty of parking for many vehicles. It is located in the countryside 28 miles to the west of Aberdeen and 1 mile from the village of Auchleven. The nearest major supermarket can be found in Inverurie which is 12 miles away. For golfers, there is a good local course at Insch, with Royal Aberdeen and Trump International Links course within an hour. Aberdeen is the oil capital of Scotland, with many restaurants, shops, clubs and museums.
